Tonya EierdamDirector of Outreach, North America BrillKids Foundation
Tonya Eierdam graduated with honors from Old Dominion University in 2005, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Recreation and Tourism Studies. After graduation, Tonya began working for the United States Navy's Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Department at a military base in Rota, Spain. For several years she worked with military youth ages 2-18 in various capacities including coordinating a youth sports program for 1000+ participants, managing a youth center and directing after school enrichment programs, and implementing large scale special events.
After relocating back to the United States, Tonya was blessed with a daughter in November 2008 and and a son in December 2009. While taking some time off to raise her family, it was then she discovered her passion for infant education. Both of her children both began reading in English at approximately 13 months old and have progressed to reading in second and third languages.
In January 2011, Tonya began sharing her enthusiasm for early learning by giving workshops at her local library to share her knowledge with other parents. In March of 2011, she joined the BrillKids Team as a Forum Moderator and also began volunteering with the Brillkids Foundation. Through volunteering with the BrillKids Foundation, she hopes to provide opportunities to underprivileged children around the globe while sharing the joy of early literacy. |
